David Robert Jones, known professionally as David Bowie was an English singer-songwriter and actor. Blackstar the 25th and final studio album by Bowie, was released January 2016, coinciding with his 69th birthday. Two days after its release, Bowie died of liver cancer; his illness had not been known to the public until then. The album was met with critical acclaim and commercial success. It has sold over 1.9 million copies as of April 2017.
